When doing everything still doesn't feel like enough.
When holding it all together becomes exhausting.
You might be the person others rely on. The one who anticipates problems, strives to get things right, and rarely gives yourself permission to slow down. Even when life looks manageable from the outside, the pressure to keep up can leave you feeling anxious, disconnected, or exhausted.
Understanding Anxiety, Perfectionism & Burnout
-
Anxiety can show up as persistent worry, overthinking, difficulty relaxing, or a sense that something might go wrong—even when things appear fine on the outside.
Sometimes anxiety is connected to patterns of anticipating others' needs, trying to stay in control, or preparing for the unexpected. Therapy can help you become curious about these responses and explore what may be keeping them in place.
-
Perfectionism isn't simply about having high standards. It can involve feeling that mistakes are unacceptable, that your worth depends on what you accomplish, or that you need to meet others' expectations to feel secure.
These patterns may have developed as ways of gaining approval, avoiding criticism, or maintaining a sense of control. Therapy offers space to understand these protective strategies and develop a more compassionate relationship with yourself.
-
Burnout can develop when ongoing demands exceed your capacity to recover. You may feel emotionally exhausted, disconnected, irritable, or unable to find satisfaction in things that once mattered to you.
Although burnout is commonly associated with work, prolonged stress and exhaustion can also arise in caregiving, relationships, and other areas of life. Therapy can help you explore the pressures and patterns contributing to your depletion.
The patterns beneath the pressure.
Overthinking & Vigilance
Your mind may constantly anticipate problems, replay conversations, or search for ways to prevent things from going wrong. Even when everything seems fine, relaxing can feel difficult.
Self-Criticism & Impossible Standards
You may hold yourself to expectations you would never place on others. Accomplishments bring only brief relief before the pressure to do more returns.
Exhaustion & Disconnection
When so much energy goes toward meeting demands and managing expectations, you may lose touch with your own needs, emotions, or sense of enjoyment.
An integrative approach to lasting patterns.
Anxiety, perfectionism, and burnout aren't always resolved by learning to manage stress differently. Sometimes, the patterns keeping you overwhelmed are rooted in experiences, beliefs, and protective responses that developed over time. My approach integrates experiential therapies to explore these patterns with curiosity and compassion.
IFS offers a way to understand the parts of you that strive, worry, criticize, or feel responsible for holding everything together. Rather than trying to eliminate these responses, we explore what they may be protecting and what they need.
EMDR can help process distressing experiences and beliefs that may contribute to anxiety, self-doubt, or the pressure to perform, when clinically appropriate.
Somatic approaches bring attention to how stress and emotional experiences show up in the body, supporting greater awareness, regulation, and flexibility in responding to everyday challenges.
I offer therapy for adults in Los Angeles, the San Francisco Bay Area, and throughout California via telehealth.
You don't have to earn the right to rest.
